Today, we, part of the Georgian society, with initiative of Democracy Research Institute(DRI) and Human Rights Center(HRC) are launching a campaign "Georgians for Abkhazians and Ossetians" to help people living in Abkhazia and the Tskhinvali region/South Ossetia. We call on all people of good will to join us, we can help each other, leave the evil in the past and become more humane.
According to the latest data, 182 people have been infected with the coronavirus in Abkhazia and 89 in Tskhinvali/South Ossetia. Hundreds of people are in quarantine and the risk of spreading the virus widely is growing daily. The lack of on-site services, medical infrastructure, medical equipment, protective equipment and professional medical workers also contributes to this process.
The pandemic does not differentiate between people on a national or other basis, the pandemic is the enemy of all people and threatens every human being. Past wars, violence, isolation, and unresolved conflicts have made the local population even more vulnerable to the virus.
In the past, our peoples have suffered many things together, including pain and joy, victory and defeat, and many mistakes and crimes that have further separated us. The time, when we will be able to talk about all of this and draw conclusions, will come. But today is not that time. Today everything should be done to save each person.
Raised funds will be used to purchase the necessary equipment for medical staff and patients.
Through fundraising platform, citizens have the opportunity to choose their donation amount and contribute to the charity campaign. To donate, please see the link:

The initiators of the campaign, with the assistance of the local and international organizations, will be able to deliver the aid to the site and publicly disclose the information on the spending of the collected funds.

To silence critical media, “Georgian Dream” tries to use financial sanctions. Following several television, online and radio broadcasters, regional media have now also been affected.
Issuance of movement permits, required for travel within and beyond Akhalgori district, has been resumed.
