DRI addresses Prime Minister with recommendation to develop uniform approach relating to health care financing
The Democracy Research Institute has addressed Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili with a recommendation to take effective steps to ensure equal approach relating to health care financing for the population living in the occupied territories.
The Democracy Research Institute actively cooperates with the population living in the occupied territories in order to protect human rights in the conflict regions and restore trust between the parties. In order to share experience gained in the medical field during the pandemic and to find solutions to the existing problems, the organization held meetings with medical personnel employed in Tbilisi and occupied territories. In addition, for the purpose of exchanging information, a meeting was held with representatives of public organizations operating in the occupied territories and working on IDPs issues.
The study of the issue showed that, as of today, the citizens of Georgia with IDP status living in the occupied territories, in contrast to the ethnically Abkhaz and Ossetian population, are in an unequal situation in terms of financing.
The Democracy Research Institute appeals to the Government of Georgia:
- to ensure equal approaches to health financing.
- to provide us with information about the steps taken or planned to be taken to fulfill the mentioned recommendation.
