Russia is making it even easier for residents of occupied Abkhazia, the Tskhinvali region and Transnistria to obtain Russian citizenship.

For years, representatives of the ruling party individuals critical of the authorities, while law enforcement agencies have systematically failed to ensure adequate protection for these groups.

Presidential elections in de facto South Ossetia will be held on 18 September 2026.
