Democracy Research Institute (DRI) responds to the recent intensification of far-right radical groups and believes that ineffective and delayed steps by the relevant authorities encouraged impunity in these groups, which has resulted in physical violence of young people at metro station Rustaveli and the threat of loss of life towards organizers of Tbilisi Pride.

It is important that the Ministry of Internal Affairs, within the limits of freedom of expression, provides for intensive patrolling at public gatherings, immediately suppresses calls by representatives of far-right groups to commit violence and crime, and ensures the safety of LGBTQ representatives.

Democracy Research Institute expresses its readiness to provide legal assistance to persons affected by hate crimes through representation in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Prosecutor's Office and the court.
